MSC 13

The 13th International Malaysian Studies Conference (MSC13) coming again next month on August, 15-16 in Negeri Sembilan host by UiTM Seremban. After few years become a presenter since 2008 (MSC 6), and MSC 12 via online, the spirit of Social Science are still burning inside.

Maintain the interest on Labour

For that, the feeling and memories of MSC are always be remember and each of them are special especially the first one. "with the intention to attend without worries about the content, my paper as accepted to be included as a panel back to 2008 as a panelist by UPEP." and during the presentations in School, our senior faculty give various of feedback. As a new comers, i'm just smile and try to be happy and make an improvement of the paper and finally fly to Sarawak.

And after more than 15 years, the feeling are still in there:

Realized or not, suddenly we become a senior but feeling empty when we not able to prepare for new generation to attend the event. maybe it's not important following the current trend more to publication in well known journal.

Let's continue to read, write and do a research and after that publish.

14 ZuLHiJJaH 1444H

Alhamdulillah raya korban masuk ke hari terakhir hari tasryik. Lebih kurang 2 juta lebih umat Islam dari seluruh dunia dijemput untuk menyempurnakan rukun Islam kelima dan lebih kurang 7 ribu juta umat yang lain melakukan pengorbanan di tempat masing-masing.

ReSeaRCH

After many years been awarded grant for 'CONDUCTING RESEARCH' and time fly with no excuse, you need to FINISH what you start. Looking back to 2019 when first time awarded a grant from KPT to investigate our subject under fundamental research grant. What is fundamental? its about to engaged with the matter of knowledge (theory, concept), new or redefined existing one.

wHAT IS RESEARCH?

let's find the meaning from the word itself. RE and SEARCH . It's literally a process of SEACRCHING and when we keep doing it, IT become RE SEARCH. This process will continues especially about theory and concept. That's why we are provide with other grant to continue the SEARCHING PROCESS as our main business besides teaching and learning to do research for the better of life.

The challenge start, when the grant are not successfully spend based on the proposal as proposed for the sponsorship and the KPT start to QNA on every single ringgit. Beside that, they also ask for the OUTPUT especially the number of PUBLICATION and don't forget the NUMBER OF TALENT produce.

Ideally, all this are easy to achieve, supposedly based on the normal process. When you get the grant, you already can start the research follow you activity and 'gantt chart'. First, you need to recruited RA or GRA, so they can learn and help to complete the research and off course they are registered as a graduate student and will graduate 2 years later. During that time, you supposed to closed this research and continue to the next grant based on you finding. that's the ideal but in reality...they need to answer and we are sharing the experience with taklimat pemantauan.

but after many years, taklimat dan pemantauan, the ideally research process are behind and far from reality, many researcher are struggle especially the money given are not been spend. Here the amount more than a million and can't do anything. Something must be done...

Higher Education Center of Excellence (HICoE)

The Higher Institution Centers of Excellence (HICoE) is a program under the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) implemented by the Department of Higher Education to drive research excellence of HEIs in the field of niche research. Through this program, JPT award a HICoE rating to a high -performing Center of Excellence (CoE) in the field of niche research.

The awarded HICoE had an impact on the production of new research talent, the publication of high - impact journals as well as the production of innovations that can benefit academia, industry, government, the community and the environment. Periodic performance monitoring will be implemented to ensure implementation in line with the objectives of the HICoE program as well as as a basis for the subsequent disbursement of HICoE research funds

Beside that, the KPT also provided another 3 platform for research:

3. Jaringan Penyelidikan Awam-Swasta (PPRN) https://www.mohe.gov.my/en/services/research/pprn

All this, consume a lot of expenses and need to be monitoring and the bureaucracy start to taken place especially when involve many stake holder. so, during 2 to 3 years, besides need to handle the research, you need to handle this process.

Finally, some of the researcher are facing the reality to be 'blacklist' as they are not perform even all the proposal are ready to be run.
