Laporan "The Straits Times, 23 December 1962, (Page 1):

"At the Stroke of midnight tonight, 14,000 railwaymen throughout
 the country stopped work after the Ministry of Labour failed in another
 attempt to avert the strike. The last train left Kuala Lumpur at 3.57 p.m. for Ipoh.
 All the night mails for tonight were cancelled".
